DoE eyes 50 more renewable energy service contracts
16 firms apply for 43 wind projects

THE DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY is evaluating about 50 more applications for renewable energy service contracts. Energy Assistant Secretary Mario Marasigan said the processing of these proposals was taking some time because these were the “more difficult projects.”

DOJ wants to double budget next year

MANILA, Philippines - The Department of Justice (DOJ) wants a P6.1-billion increase in its budget for next year, or almost double its fund of P6.4 billion this year.

Secretary Alberto Agra said he has asked the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) to approve the proposed budget hike for the department, which he said would be necessary for the effective implementation of 34 new and existing programs and projects, including the hiring of more prosecutors, creation of new branches plus construction of new court houses, and strengthening of the witness protection program.

New administration asked to review $150-million Malaysian offer to upgrade DMIA

CLARK FREEPORT, Pampanga, Philippines – A Malaysian consortium has insisted it has made the “most feasible and workable” $150-million offer to upgrade the Diosdado Macapagal International Airport (DMIA) here, as it appealed to the incoming Aquino administration to take “a second hard look” at its proposal.
