The Ombudsman will investigate into the alleged anomaly in the bidding for the purchase of ballot secrecy folders of the Commission on Elections (COMELEC), to be used in the May 10 elections. The contract was initially awarded to OTC Paper Supply, but the COMELEC canceled the notice of award after finding that P380 for each folder was "exorbitant."

The task force to be created will evaluate the procedure conducted by the Bids and Awards Committee [BAC] of the COMELEC to determine if it is in accord with RA 9184. The task force will also look into possible violations committed by Comelec officials.

Meanwhile, OTC Paper Supply said that they will appeal to the decision of the COMELEC. They would file for a motion for reconsideration to win back the contract.

Further, the Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV) said that the bidding of the COMELEC for the UV lamps was flawed as well.
